DESCRIPTION:Across the country\, state lawmakers are acting to protect the safety of judges\, law enforcement\, and other potentially at-risk groups by legislating restrictions to open access to government records. Access to government records\, like official land records\, tax collector’s records\, GIS maps and property appraiser data\, is no longer guaranteed for our industry. Laws written to shield records from anonymous online access are being crafted with safety in mind\, but most of the time\, title industry concerns about accessibility are overlooked in the drafting process.
