Cornelia Horner, CMP is the Chief Operating Officer for the American Land Title Association (ALTA) where she oversees all operations of the association. Cornelia began her career working for U.S. Senator Howell Heflin as a receptionist and was promoted to scheduler. She then worked as the office manager for a lobbying firm, Copeland, Lowery & Jacquez. After approximately ten years of working on Capitol Hill and in government relations, Cornelia was able to parlay her volunteer work planning meetings and events into a career as a meeting planner and then spent nearly eight years with CropLife America, a trade association, as their director of meetings. Following CropLife America, Cornelia opened Convention Meeting and Hospitality Solutions (CMH Solutions), an independent meeting planning company, but was convinced to return to the association world by her client ALTA.
Since joining ALTA as Director of Meetings in 2007, Cornelia has grown as a successful leader in the non-profit world, serving as Vice President over meetings, marketing and membership, and now, COO. She also served as the Interim CEO of the association for nearly a year. In her tenure, she has seen the association more than double in size both in number of members as well as attendees at the association's major conferences.
She received her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2002 and joined the inaugural class of CMP Fellows in 2022.
She is active in both the association community and the events industry having served on the International Board of Directors for Meeting Professionals International (MPI) as well as many roles including President of the Potomac Chapter of MPI. She is currently serving as the chair of the Events Industry Council's CMP Governance Commission and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
