ALTA is dedicated to the safety of all of our members, speakers, and guests at all of our live events. ALTA will be complying with the health and safety policies required by the District of Columbia in order to host an event in the Nation’s Capitol. This includes providing proof of vaccination accompanied by an ID, universal masking, and social distancing. For more information about the order and guidelines click here.
In accordance with the District of Columbia Mayor’s Order 2021-148 – Vaccine Entry Requirements (VaxDC), proof of vaccination accompanied by a photo ID will be required to attend the 2022 ALTA Advocacy Summit. The only forms of ID that ALTA will accept are state issued drivers licenses, passport, DC One Card or a permanent resident cards. In order to fully comply with a Mayor’s mandate, ALTA will require all attendees to show proof of vaccination each time they enter the hotel’s meeting space.
To streamline the COVID-19 requirements enacted by the District of Columbia, ALTA has partnered with CLEAR Health Pass. All registered attendees and speakers will be asked to download the CLEAR app, create a profile, and, if applicable add their vaccination information. In the week before ALTA Advocacy Summit, ALTA will share a special event code that attendees should link to their CLEAR Health Pass. By adding the code, an attendee will be able to easily and quickly complete the verification requirements. Please note that attendees’ personal health information will not be shared or stored with/by ALTA.
Other forms of verification that will be accepted by ALTA and other DC businesses like restaurants, bars, sporting venues, etc. include:
- Physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccination Card.
- Digital copy/photo of the front and back of a CDC Vaccination Card.
- World Health Organization Vaccination Record.
- COVID-19 verification App such as VaxYes or CLEAR.
- Attendees who have a medical or religious exemption must provide documentation such a note from a medical provider or an attestation along with a negative PCR or antigen test within the last 24 hours.
Masks and social distancing will be implemented in accordance with the requirements of the District of Columbia and the CDC. Attendees may only remove their mask when actively eating and drinking.

- Do you have to be boosted in order to be vaccinated by the District of Columbia?
- Two doses an one of the approved vaccines is considered up to date. Attendees are not required to have a booster.
- Will testing be available onsite at ALTA Advocacy Summit?
- No, attendees needing proof of a negative test will need to obtain and pay for their own testing. ALTA recommends using a CLEAR affiliated testing site to streamline results.
- If an attendee has a medical or religious exception when does the 24-hour mark end? When the test was taken or when the results are received?
- The “time clock” starts ticking at the time the test was administered.
- Will the restaurants and bars in the hotel recognize an attendee’s badge as proof of vaccination?
- No, an attendee will still need to present their proof of vaccination upon check-in at the hotel and at any of the hotel’s outlets.
- What happens if I am unable to download the CLEAR App?
- All attendees will still need to present either their vaccination card or exemption documentation enter the event space. See above for other forms of acceptable proof an attendee can provide.
- What happens if I test positive while attending ALTA Advocacy Summit?

- Can I get a refund if I test positive prior to arriving in the District of Columbia or while onsite?
- Attendees will have the option to attend virtually or a refund will be issued upon proof of a positive COVID-19 test dated between Monday, May 9, 2022 – Sunday, May 15, 2022. ALTA will only accept test results from a PCR, RT-PCR, NAAT or a rapid test that has been administer by a medical professional at testing site or a pharmacy. ALTA will not accept at-home or over-the-counter COVID-19 test results. If an attendee has recently had COVID-19, please adhere to the CDC quarantine and isolation guidelines.
ALTA is monitoring the World Health Organization, the local CDC guidelines, and the U.S. Travel Associations updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Every effort will be made to adhere to physical distancing guidelines, cleaning and hygiene, minimizing food and beverage risks, and will have an on-going communication plan. The Hilton Washington DC National Mall Hotel participates in the Hilton Event Ready and CleanStay program which is continually being evaluated and updated to ensure guest’s safety.
