Richard P. Halfmann is Vice President and National Senior Underwriting Counsel with First American Title Insurance Company’s Corporate Underwriting Department and Shared Commercial Underwriting Team. Since joining First American in 2016, he has provided national-level underwriting support on complex commercial real estate transactions, advising agents and customers on risk assessment, deal structure, and title solutions.

Rich brings extensive industry experience, having previously served as claims counsel and commercial underwriting counsel for other national title insurance underwriters. Earlier in his career, he practiced law representing buyers, sellers, and lenders in a broad range of real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, REO transactions, and mortgage foreclosures.

Rich holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stonehill College and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts. He is an active member of the American Land Title Association and the Palmetto Land Title Association and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and educational programs, where he is known for delivering practical, real-world insights on commercial real estate underwriting. Originally from Massachusetts, Rich now lives in South Carolina with his wife and three children.
