Barry L. Miller is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Suffolk University, with a
double-major in Communications and Speech and Government. He graduated from
Nova Southeastern University Law School and concentrates his practice in the areas
of real estate, probate and business law. He is a member of The Florida, Colorado,
New York and Massachusetts State Bar Associations. He is President of The Closing
Agent, LLC, a full-service title insurance agency with offices in Orlando, Altamonte
Springs, Winter Park, Lakeland, Merit Island, Celebration, and Ocoee, Florida.
His practice focuses on assisting property owners on many aspects of real property
including: Purchasing, selling, land development, commercial and residential
leasing, loan modifications, short sales, and foreclosures (plaintiff and defendant).
His office has successfully negotiated and closed over 7,000 short sales. He lectures
regularly to Realtors and other professionals on legal issues related to real estate and
closing issues.
He is also a land developer in Downtown Orlando with many successful projects in
Thornton Park including commercial and residential projects.
Mr. Miller was the former President of the Orlando International Fringe Theater
Festival— the oldest fringe festival in the United States. He has also served on the
Board of Directors of the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. He is the founder of The
Barry L. Miller Foundation for Arts and Education which has provided scholarships
to college students and grants in the Orlando area for the arts. He was selected to
participate and successfully completed, in 2016, the Goldman Sach’s 10,000 small
business leaders’ program. Mr. Miller was the founder of The 49 Fund—a fund
created in the wake of the Pulse mass shootings—which provides leadership
scholarships to the central Florida community. Currently, Mr. Miller serves as
President of CFGALLA the LGBT lawyers association, an affiliate voluntary bar
association of the Florida Bar and the Orange County Bar Association. He is also a
frequent contributor on WFTV’s Eyewitness News.
In 2019, Mr. Miller recently had the honor of representing a client in a foreclosure
defense action that was ultimately determine by the Florida Supreme Court
wherein it was determined that the lender’s mortgage was extinguished and our
client now owns their home free and clear. Bank of New York Mellon v. Bagga,
SC17-1221, 2018 WL 6434803, at *1 (Fla. Dec. 7, 2018).
The Closing Agent was recognized in 2015, and again in 2016, by the Initiative for
a Competitive Inner City as one of the top 100 fastest-growing businesses in the
United States as featured in Fortune magazine.
